Dawn L. Caffarella
Clinical Director
BSW, LCSW
I am Dawn Caffarella, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the state of Arizona. I have a master’s degree in social work, a master’s degree in counseling, and am finishing my PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision at Grand Canyon University. My approach to therapy is person-centered—this is about your recovery and healing, and you are the expert on your life. I am driven by a love of teaching and find the psychoeducational aspect of neurobiology—exploring why the brain operates as it does—captivating. Did you know that your brain can change and grow throughout your life?
I work with adults with addictions of all sorts, personality disorders (especially Borderline Personality Disorder), neurodiversity (adult autism and ADHD), anxiety, depression, and trauma. I will work with court-mandated clients.
I am certified in Motivational Interviewing, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and I will soon add EMDR. I use a variety of other theories, including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Mentalization Based Therapy, Action and Commitment Therapy, and Brain-Based Therapy.
My husband and I are Arizona natives and have six children, six grandchildren, and many fur babies and grand fur babies. We live in the foothills of the beautiful Superstition Mountains. I love fishing, traveling, teaching, and writing. I am also a board-certified supervisor for the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners. I am currently available via telehealth.
