The Mission of SBHP
"Whether you are a service member, veteran, military family member, referring professional or friend, military life – especially deployments or mobilizations – can present challenges that are both unique and complicated. Some of these challenges are manageable, and some of them are not. In some cases, these issues get worse and become too much. It is during these difficult times that we should seek help from qualified professionals who are trained in military-specific subjects and can address the special challenges we face as service members, veterans and military friends and families."

Star Providers
"Star Providers" receive specialized training from Star Behavioral Health Providers (SBHP) which is a collaboration between the Military Family Research Institute at Purdue University and the Center for Deployment Psychology.
What is the SBHP?
Star Behavioral Health Providers (SBHP) connects military service members and their families with licensed behavioral health professionals who have specialized training in military culture and treatments shown to be effective with military families.
What Makes these Providers Different?
Members of the military, veterans and their family face many of the same challenges that civilians face everyday. You also have added stressors of frequent and sudden moves, long lasting trainings, combat missions, and deployment fatigue that often last long after your obligation is over. SBHP Star Providers are licensed mental health providers that have specialized training in specialized therapies that have been shown to be effective with supporting the unique needs of military-connected clients.
